The Bunney - Access Statement 2010 Access Statement for; The Bunney – 0585203 with VisitBritain & EnjoyEngland. NOTE: This Statement has been produced to ANSWER required information that may or may not be applicable to The Bunney as a Self Catering business. We have answered all the questions to the best of our ability and obviously some are not applicable, but answered accordingly. The Owners: Sue & David Collingwood. Introduction Welcome from Sue & David Collingwood, Owners of The Bunney. The Bunney is our Self Catering holiday accommodation business and runs from Saturday to Saturday. We offer a discount for all our returning visitors. At present we do not undertake Short Breaks, but may consider a reduction for a part week followed by complete week/s. The Bunney, No.11 Old School Close is in a Cul-de-Sac location and visitors are able to park and unload outside the property. There is street lighting to enable late arrivals unpack etc. and you are greeted by a courtesy light as you approach the entrance door. This is activated in the twilight and detects movement, adding to your safety and security of the premises. Pre-Arrival From The Bunney we offer our visitors access to us via phone, fax, email and web contact from our 'Contact Us' webpage. At The Bunney we offer our visitors access to a Broad Band connection and a phone that receives INCOMING calls only. The Bunney has a House Style for all its documentation and this is reflected on The Bunney website. The type faces used are Arial and Comic Sans MS at 12pt. The Access Statement will be available in an Information folder held at The Bunney and also as a webpage in Word and pdf formats. Public Transport - Butlocks Heath is on the main bus routes which connect to the other villages within the parish and also to Southampton, which is the nearest City at approx. 4.5 miles away. Nearby Netley Railway Station, approx. 0.4 miles away, is on the main Portsmouth to Southampton line. Southampton Airport is approx. 5.1 miles away. The Bunney recommends 'Dial-A-Ride' Service information provided by Hampshire County Council Environment Department. For those inclined to Internet shopping, the visitor could arrange for Tesco’s etc. to deliver.

Arrival & Car Parking Facilities The Bunney has parking for one vehicle in our private 'un-light - open access' car park and is identified by a raised sign with a green number 11 on it. The parking space offers access to the vehicle all round. It is also a short walk from The Bunney. Alternative parking can be accommodated outside The Bunney by the street lamp on the public road, having no dropped kerb, which can also act as the 'drop-off - boarding point'. The car park is tarmac and slightly un-even with the approach to The Bunney being along a tarmac path. There is a paved path with a slight decline towards the entrance of the Bunney. There is no hand rail. Visitors would have been issued with all the necessary contact numbers prior to their arrival. No provision of dog bowls etc. Signage provided - The number 11 is visible in the form of a decorated 4" square wall tile displayed at head height on the left hand side to the entrance. There is also a decorated flower pot with The Bunney painted on it, on the same side. Access is via the double glazed front door which is key operated and has the usual security features built in. There is also a door-bell push button on the right hand side. The visitor could phone The Bunney number to gain access. Visitors generally carry their own luggage etc into The Bunney, but if requested we will assist.
Main Entrance, Reception & Ticketing Area There is a paved path with a slight decline towards the entrance of the Bunney. There is no hand rail. There is a courtesy light that is activated by movement and will operate in the twilight hours upon entry and exit of The Bunney. It also provides additional security. We state to our visitors that we are contactable at all times and require to be contacted immediately they encounter any problems. There is a pad / pen available on arrival. Lighting - is a mix of spotlights, dimmers, bright and natural. Additional keys are available on request. A familiarisation tour is undertaken on your arrival. Door type of main entrance; Double glazed side hung. Entrance; lighting, signage, threshold, doormats, contrasting surround. There are currently no handrails / grab rails provided. There is no provision for service dogs - water bowls, bedding, food, walking facility. Signage provided - is it tactile, clear and pictorial. The main entrance is on the same level as the ground floor. There are stairs provided to the first floor. All door frames and skirting boards are of the same colour.
Public Areas - Hall, Stairs, Landing, Corridors etc Visitors have access to the ground and first floors that are level universal flat surfaces. Ground Floor - Entrance, Kitchen and Lounge / Diner with access to rear garden. First floor - Landing, Bathroom with WC, Double Bedroom and Twin Bedroom. Ground Floor - The kitchen has ceramic floor tiles. The remaining area has short pile carpet with scatter rugs. First Floor - The area has short pile carpet with scatter rugs. A BT Pay Phone is sited along Woolston Road adjacent to the Parish Public car park. Teletext and subtitles are available on the televisions. Entry into The Bunney is over a raised threshold and there is a similar drop when exiting into the rear garden. Both external doors are white UPCV and double glazed to the top half. All internal doors are full height embossed hardboard and painted white. All internal door frames are wooden and painted white. Only the bathroom door is lockable. Baby changing facilities are not provided. There is no provision for dogs - water bowl, food bowls, where can assistance dogs go, location of any designated exercise area, are there any restrictions etc. The hallway and landing are both over a metre wide. The Bathroom is fitted with a three piece suite comprising of a panelled bath, with power-shower over, shower screen, vanity wash hand basin, close coupled WC. and electric shaver socket.

Public WCs The WC is located in the bathroom on the first floor. From the base of the stairs, the bathroom is at the top adjacent to the landing. The stairs and landing are carpeted with short pile carpet. The bathroom is fitted with a close coupled unisex WC for use. There are no changing facilities. We do not have an Emergency pull cord or response system. We do not have a Fire alarm. We do have a Smoke detector, with audible sound and light, positioned over the landing are at the top of the stairs. Key evacuation procedures are held as a Word document in our Visitors Folder 1, for them to read and observe. The bathroom floor is a textured surface laminate. The bathroom door is a standard single leaf with lever handles with an integrated lock on the inside. Access to the standard close coupled WC is 1m wide and it is front facing and non- adjustable. There are no support rails & hoists etc. There is a vanity wash hand basin, with a standard mixer tap. The walls are Blue and the three piece suite, bath panel and wall tiles are White. The floor covering is sandy yellow. There are coat hooks provided at two levels to accommodate adults and children.
Restaurant / Dining Room, Bar & bar Area, Take Away & Cafe The lighting is uniform, bright and natural. The Lounge / Diner has short pile carpet throughout. The movable standard sized single dining table is of a metalled frame construction with a fixed glass tempered top. It accommodates four standard chairs. The Bunney is Non-Smoking. Please do not put yourselves at risk or our property. From the entrance through the hallway into the Lounge / Diner, the dinning table is positioned between the rear entrance and back window, with a view to the rear garden. The Lounge / Diner has a short pile carpet russet in colour, rear door and window UPCV White and dinning chairs / table cloth in Red. Crockery is white and thick handled cutlery is available.
Laundry Shop Butlocks Heath has a General Store with provision of most services for the home. From The Bunney you will travel towards Woolston Road, turning right out of Old School Close and walk along the tarmac pavement for a few minutes. Its entrance, with threshold, is on the ground floor which is tiled and it is 'L' shaped in its layout. Shelving is along all the walls with a single double sided rack in the middle of the main area. The counter is by the entrance and a till total display is visible. Assistance is available from the staff upon request. All pricing is on standard labels. There are no steps, stairs and/or ramps, handrails, grab rails.
Treatment room/s - Not applicable Leisure Facilities Lounge / Diner: Bush Combination DVD / Video 20” Television with Freeview box and Midi system. Overlooking rear garden. Recreation: There is a selection of books, games, CD’s, DVD’s and Videos. Internet: Wireless Broadband connection available. Telephone connection available in Lounge / Diner, (INCOMING) calls only. Two double sized bedrooms: Bedroom 1 – Twin. AS LCD Combination DVD / 15” Television with Freeview box. Bedroom 2 - Double. Bush Combination DVD / 15” Television. Rear garden: Patio furniture and shed for cycle storage. Overlooking woodland and has a patio area for use with the table and chairs etc. Additional bench seating.
Outdoor Facilities The Rear Garden - From the rear door threshold, there is a step down into the rear garden onto the paved patio area. This will be initially onto a raised slab and then onto the paved patio area. The patio has two tall metal planters positioned at its edges and two smaller metal planters are by the walls. The circular patio dinning table is by the Lounge / Diner window on the right hand side. The remaining area is to gravel with stepping slabs laid to the rear gate. Either side of the slabs, bench seating is provided by the wooden boundary fences. There is a metal planter sited on the left hand side by the bench. A shrub border adorns the bench on the right hand side and there is a border sited along the long edge of the wooden shed with trailing climbers. We encourage wildlife and birds into the garden for the pleasure and interest of our visitors. We provide seed and nut feeders and also bird nesting boxes, which have been used. The garden is visited regularly by Grey Squirrels and a variety of Robins, Tits, Blackbirds etc. Red Deer have been seen in our car park. The shed is used to store the BBQ and the four patio dinning table chairs and umbrella. There are two collapsible travel seats available. Two bikes could be stored in this lockable shed. By the shed is by the rear lockable gate which gives access to the communal path running along the back of numbers 10, 11 and 12 Old School Close. The path borders onto The Bunney, which is historical woodland owned by Hampshire County Council. There is a walk through The Bunney, on the opposite side of the gully, which starts at either end and a plan of the route is available in our Visitors Folder 1.
Conference & Meeting Rooms, Banqueting - Not applicable. Clubs & Entertainment Butlocks Heath Village hosts a variety of amenities, comprising of a General Store and its two pubs, The Cottage Inn (Wadworth) and The Roll Call (Free House) and these are all along Woolston Road. Bedrooms & Sleeping Areas The Bunney does not have bedrooms suitable for wheelchair users. We do not have a Fire alarm. We do have a Smoke detector, with audible sound and light, positioned over the landing are at the top of the stairs. Each TV in the bedrooms has a remote control and teletext or subtitles are available. Telephone with voice amplification is available in the Lounge / Diner (INCOMING) calls only. There is no provision of; Hoists, Vibrating alarm clock, Wheelchair, Electric beds, Heated beds, Reclining chair or Armchair. Route in bedrooms having a standard door width and are unobstructed. The bedrooms are carpeted with short pile carpet. The lighting is, dimmer switch, general ambient lighting, is it uniform, bright, natural. Bed combinations are Twin bedroom with 2 X 3' Divan beds and Double bedroom with 1 X 4' 6" Double bed. The bedrooms are located on the first floor, which is level, and are without lift access. The Twin bedroom walls are painted Lilac with wood work and ceiling in White. The Double bedroom walls are painted Pink with wood work and ceiling in White. Bedrooms - We do not provide a kettle, fridge or mini-bar. Both bedrooms are adjacent to the landing area on the first floor. Allergies - list availability of e.g. non-smoking and pet free.
Bathroom, Shower-room & WC [En-suite or Shared] The bathroom is on the first floor and is fitted with a three piece suite comprising of a panelled bath, with power-shower over, shower screen, vanity wash hand basin, close coupled WC. and electric shaver socket. We do not have a Fire alarm. We do have a Smoke detector, with audible sound and light, positioned over the landing are at the top of the stairs. The bathroom floor is a textured surface laminate. The bathroom door is a standard single leaf with lever handles with an integrated lock on the inside. There are no support rails & hoists etc. The bath is side access. There is no Alarm system or pull cord available. The power shower, with a single head and thermostatic mixer, is over the bath and we only provide a non-slip bath mat only. There are no support rails. The bath is of standard height and is side of entry, with standard twist/turn taps, there is no bath seat provided. There is a vanity wash hand basin, with a standard twist/turn mixer tap. Access to the standard close coupled WC is 1m wide and it is front facing and non-adjustable. The walls are Blue and the three piece suite, bath panel and wall tiles are White. The floor covering is sandy yellow.
Self-Catering Kitchen The modern fitted kitchen is on the ground floor and at the front of the house, overlooking Old School Close. As you enter the property it is the first turning on the left. All equipment literature is kept in one of our Visitors folder in the Lounge / Diner. The water is heated via the Condenser Boiler, which gives thermostatically controlled water. The sinks mixer tap is has a single lever operation. The kitchen is fitted with a matching range of standard base and eye level units. It contains a built-in four ring gas hob with canopy extractor hood over. Built-in electric fan assisted convection oven. Washer dryer, dishwasher, convection microwave oven, large fridge freezer. The kitchen has ceramic floor tiles. The lighting is spotlights and natural. There are no steps, stairs and/or ramps, handrails, grab rails, thresholds, handrails, temporary or permanent.

Attractions (Displays, exhibits, rides etc.) The Bunney – Butlocks Heath Village, within Netley Abbey, Eastleigh, Hampshire. The Bunney is in an idyllic location set in the middle of Butlocks Heath village, 'Jewel of the Southern Parishes' and offers immediate access to, major cities, shopping centres, family attractions and local Sailing & Yachting Clubs. Beautiful countryside walks surround the area. Butlocks Heath Village Butlocks Heath Village hosts a variety of amenities, comprising of a General Store and its two pubs, The Cottage Inn (Wadworth) and The Roll Call (Free House) and these are all along Woolston Road. Priors Hill Copse, which is an impressive area of Oak woodland, provides an attractive area in which to walk. Footpaths lead to the Butlocks Heath Reservoir which lies to the north. Playing field with children's play areas. These are all within 200 meters. Royal Victoria Country Park, Netley Abbey 15 minutes away is the Royal Victoria Country Park. Overlooking Southampton Water, this popular park, covering over 200 acres, is one of the most scenic and delightful areas of South Hampshire… once the site of a military hospital and its fascinating story can be viewed in the Heritage Centre. All major shipping lines can be seen.

Additional Information In our Visitors Folder 1, is a document entitled 'Reacting to the Alarm', which is a direct copy of information left by Hampshire Fire and Rescue Service - Home Fire Safety Visit. This was carried out on Sunday 04/03/07. Our visitors are encouraged to browse through the two Visitors folders. Extract from the above document: The only way to react to a smoke alarm at home at night is to: • get up, • get everyone in the house together, • leave the building by the quickest route, usually down the stairs and out of the front door, • dial 999 and ask for the Fire Service. If you follow the above advice you will survive a fire.
There are two Smoke detectors; 1 - Positioned above the landing with light for the stair well and 2 - Above the TV in the Lounge / Diner. There is also a Carbon Monoxide detector on top of the Fridge Freezer in the kitchen, which is in good proximity of the Gas Condenser Boiler. Those three devices are checked regularly.

Install water piping from the main header tank, down the rear wall to a position, yet to be decided, for the installation of an outside tap. Twin Bedroom - To be redecorated and addition of a new short pile carpet throughout. New curtain pole.
