Butlocks Heath / Netley Abbey News:
The Bunney is 5 years old today - 23 June.
Revised pricing at The Bunney for July to December. To accommodate the recession we have adjusted our prices.
I receive enquires about the Butlocks Heath Reservoir and the web page has many hits. The owners, Castle Angling Club, have full membership and are not easily contactable. My best suggestion is to arrive there on any Wednesday and meet Berni, who will be undertaking maintenance around the site. David.
Cycled on the Isle of Wight on Tuesday 27 March. I cycled as best as possible from East Cowes clockwise arounds the coastline to Niton and back across the island to East Cowes - East side. I had a fantastic day and cycled 50 miles. For an island it has some challenging hill climbs with those wonderful downhills. It took six hours and I enjoyed every moment even if I was on my 'last legs' and had to keep driving myself to finish. I aim to complete the west side of the island soon.
Currently involved in a RMS Titanic project. Working with Tony Martin, Journalist to establish the whereabouts of 'Nikko Lodge' in Netley. 2nd Officer Charles Herbert Ligtholler - R.M.S. Titanic lived there in 1912. We are also looking for photographs of 'Nikko Lodge'. If you have any information, please contact David at the above e-mail address. Thank you.
Update: I have established the whereabouts of 'Nikko Lodge' and am still trying to find those ellusive photographs of it. It was built sometime before 1865 (?) and demolished over a century later.
February 2012: Found a white ceramic ink pot previously used within the school.
January 2012: Found a 1/3 Pint glass milk bottle that would have been used at the old Butlocks Heath County Primary School. It was made for South Coast Daries and is possibly 30 years old.
November 2011 project:
1 - Replaced shoe cupboard.
October 2011 projects:
1 - Refurbished our bathroom following damage to the vanity basin. The project was to remove the built in cabinet containing the basin and alter the blumbing as necessary. Replacing with a modern angular design made from high gloss poly marble and mounted on a high gloss white vanity cabinet.
2 - Removal of the wall cabinet above the basin and replaced with a circular pivoting mirror.
3 - The ceiling light fitting was changed and now brighter lighting to the bathroom has been achieved.
4 - The Pull cord for that fitting was removed and a new switch was added to the landing wall outside, to enable easier use.
5 - A wall light is now in place on the back wall of the property to enable our visitor's additional lighting when using the patio area.
6 - Replaced the faulty 10 year old shower pump, so back to full pressure.
These few changes have been projects on the back-boiler and help to raise The Bunney's profile.
